Peugeot Begins Accepting Pre Orders for All Electric i0n Mini

Peugeot i0n 0 Peugeot Begins Accepting Pre Orders for All Electric i0n Mini
Even though we’re still a full year away from the European market launch of the iOn, Peugeot has already started to take pre-reservations for the all-electric car in the UK. Revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the i0n is actually a rebadged Mitsubishi i-MiEV. As part of the PSA Peugeot-Citroen and Mitsubishi deal, Citroen will also launch its own version of the i-MiEV called the C-Zero.

With four doors and four seats, and a compact length of 3.48 m, the i0n is powered by a 64bhp electric motor that allows it to reach a top speed of 80mph or 129 km/h.
The small city car has a driving range of 80 miles (129 km) on a single charge of its lithium-ion batteries which can be recharged in six hours through a conventional mains power supply or recharged to 80% capacity within thirty minutes with a fast charging system.
Peugeot has not disclosed prices for the i0n. However, we do know that in Japan, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV is priced from 4,599,000 Yen (that’s €34,500 or $51,300 at today’s exchange rates), which is more than twice the cost of a Toyota Prius.

01 coupe 630 450x300 Cadillac CTS V Coupe race car finishes first test at Sebring
The boys and girls at Cadillac have taken their newest toy out to play. The CTS-V Coupe race car got its first sampling of track time at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida earlier this week. Drivers Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim took time behind the tiller for the car’s first real shake down as the car and team prep for the first race of the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT. The series kicks off in St. Petersburg, Florida from March 25 to 27.
As you may recall, it’s been a good long while since the Crest last suited up to go fender-to-fender. The company last competed in the World Challenge GT series in 2007. At that time, Cadillac had campaigned a CTS-V sedan for three seasons. General Motors is hoping that taking to the track once again will help establish the CTS-V Coupe as a legitimate performance competitor capable of taking on the best that Germany has to offer. Hit the jump for the full press blast.

2012 Mercedes Benz SLK pops its auto tinting lid

web630 2012slk class10 150x150 2012 Mercedes Benz SLK pops its auto tinting lid

The thing about innovation is that to follow up, you tend to need another dose of innovation to keep people interested. Case in point: Mercedes-Benz having shoes to fill with its little SLK. The original was one of the first cars on the market with a modern retractable hardtop, taking after its costlier forebearer, the SL. And fourteen years later, with nearly everyone fitting folding tin roofs to their convertibles, the Stuttgart has launched the third-generation model with Magic Sky Control.
The innovative roof, as we’ve reported in the build-up to its release, adjusts the tinting of the glass panels automatically. It’s an option, and buyers can still get a solid metal folding roof or a fixed-tint glass one if the electronic trickery is too much. Naturally, though, that’s not all that’s new about the new SLK.
The latest compact roadster from Stuttgart sits on a new platform with new styling. Whereas the outgoing model aped the SLR with its Formula One-style nose, the new SLK takes its cues from the SLS AMG with its more upright grille. The new shape is also more aerodynamic, and Mercedes has incorporated a new transparent panel between the rear roll hoops that tilts to optimize airflow and keep turbulence in the cabin to a minimum.

The SLK will launch in the North American market in SLK350 guise, packing a 3.5-liter V6 good for 302 horsepower and a 5.4-second sprint to 60 mph. The 1.8-liter, four-cylinder, 201hp SLK250 will follow, as is expected the naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8 SLK55 AMG. The new SLK gets its official launch later this month at the head office in Stuttgart in celebration of the company’s 125th anniversary, with its public debut slated for the Geneva Motor Show in March. Follow the jump for a video and full press release, but be sure to check out the high-resolution photos in the gallery below.

    2011 Volvo C30 Review

    Volvo C30
    Volvo C30
The 2011 Volvo C30 is treated to a refreshed exterior, including an all-new front end. The 2011 Volvo C30 isnt your typical "hot hatch." Power comes from Volvos familiar turbocharged five-cylinder engine, which cranks out a healthy 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It certainly goes fast and handles well, but Volvo has refused to sacrifice comfort for performance, even in sport-tuned R-Design trim.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2011 Volvo C30 is a four-seat, two-door hatchback offered in two trim levels. The base T5 includes 17-inch alloy wheels, height-adjustable seats, a trip computer, cruise control, a 50/50-split-folding rear seat, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker CD audio system with an auxiliary audio jack. The T5 R-Design trim level adds 18-inch wheels, fog lights, a sport-tuned suspension, a quicker steering ratio, sporty exterior trim, partial leather upholstery, blue-face gauges and metallic interior trim.

The Multimedia package adds a 10-speaker Dynaudio surround-sound audio system and satellite radio. The Climate package includes heated front seats, headlamp washers, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers.

    Power trains and Performance

The front-wheel-drive 2011 Volvo C30 is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 that produces 227 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy checks in at 21 mpg city/29 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined for the manual; the automatic has a 21/30/24 mpg rating.

The 2011 Volvo C30 comes standard with antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front seats with whiplash protection. Volvos Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is optional.

    Interior Design and Special Features

The front seats are exceptionally comfortable (though more side bolstering would be helpful on a curvy road), and the telescoping steering wheel accommodates drivers of all sizes.

From the front, its easy to peg the Volvo C30 as a truncated, hatchback version of the S40 sedan and V50 wagon. In back, this truly stylish, sporty Volvo looks to Volvos 1800ES shooting brake, from the early 1970s, for inspiration, with a smaller, rounded, blacked-out hatch opening.

Its sophisticated and laid-back—a bit of a necessity, given the lower roofline—and it has the now-familiar Volvo floating center stack, a thin panel housing radio and climate controls, with storage space just behind.

The interior is obviously sacrificed a bit for the style, and the low roofline. The cargo space is a bit disappointing, too.

The highlight of the lineup, at least visually, remains the style-centric R-Design model, which includes different front and rear aerodynamic work; a sport suspension; Pirelli performance tires; special Midair wheel design; xenon HID headlamps with Active Bending Light; and a hard-drive-based navy system with live traffic. Options on the C30 lineup include a moon roof, leather upholstery, a climate package, and a preferred package with rain-sensor wipers and headlight washers.

Alfa Romeo Spider and Mazda MX 5 in 2015

Alfa Romeo Spider and Mazda MX-5 in 2015
Alfa Romeo and Mazda will share their new roadsters develop and build. The new MX-5 Spider in 2015 should see the light.

It was weird to walk the wild in May announced deal between Mazda and Alfa Romeo not continues but nothing is final until the signatures once an agreement has dried.

That is now the case, and so everything can be put in motion for the production in Hiroshima ready for the production of the new Mazda MX-5 and Alfa Romeo Spider. In 2015, the first copies in the Japanese city of Tyre walk.

Mazda and Alfa Romeo go subcutaneously many components for their roadsters parts but the cars get their own body and their own engines. Obviously they get rear-wheel drive, although in the case of the MX-5 logical than the Spider, who in his last appearance was a front wheel actuator.

    2011 Hyundai Elantra Review

    Hyundai Elantra
    Hyundai Elantra

2011 Hyundai Elantra Review-While holding the line on performance compared to previous versions, the Hyundai Elantra achieves much-improved fuel economy—40 mpg highway over the entire model line, as well as improved passenger comfort and interior refinement.

From the back you might mistake the Hyundai Elantra for its large Sonata sibling; but with the Hyundai Elantra an even smoother take. The exterior builds on the automakers Fluidic Scupture theme that applies to the mid-size Sonata, but in the Hyundai Elantra its a little more crisp and aggressive, a little more athletic. Hyundai boasts that the nav system has the largest screen size in this class.

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra has been fully redesigned, with an attractive design, new features, an efficient 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and new six-speed transmissions.

For the fully redesigned 2011 Hyundai Elantra sedan, that moment is now. Beneath that dolled-up exterior, the new Elantra sports a new 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra is a compact sedan thats offered in two trim levels. Options for the GLS include the Popular Equipment package that adds 16-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, cruise control and a telescoping steering wheel. EPA estimates are 29 mpg city/40 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined.

The 2011 Hyundai Elantras list of standard safety features includes traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints, front seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags that cover both rows. In Edmunds brake testing, an Elantra Limited needed 125 feet to stop from 60 mph -- a good distance for the segment.

Most new car updates take an incremental approach to improvement, but the Hyundai Elantra addresses its shortcomings with an aggressive eye toward performance, weight savings and fuel economy. A six-speed transmission, built in-house by Hyundai, is responsible for 4.1 percent of the fuel-economy improvement, and a smart alternator shaves an additional 2.5 percent. Weight loss adds a 1.8 percent improvement, while low rolling resistance reduces inefficiency by another 1.4 percent, aiding the cars claims of best-in-class fuel economy. Hyundai is also quick to point out that the only competitors that meet or exceed Elantras 40 mpg highway claim are the 40-mpg Ford Fiesta equipped with the Super Fuel Economy Package—which runs a $2,765 premium over a comparably priced Hyundai Elantra—and the 42-mpg Chevrolet Cruze Eco, which is $1,900 pricier.

A manual-transmission Hyundai Elantra GLS Standard starts at $15,550, while an automatic transmission GLS Popular runs $17,800. Added features on the Limited version ($20,700) include leather seats with front- and rear-seat heaters, a sunroof and 17-inch alloy wheels.

We first sampled the base, six-speed manual-transmission-equipped Hyundai Elantra GLS model with a Popular equipment package. Cruising in sixth gear at around 80 mph with light throttle yields an impressive indicated average fuel economy of around 50 mpg—helped, in part, by a tall top-gear ratio of 0.633. More erratic driving at lower speeds lowered our average to just below 30 mpg—spot on with the EPA city estimate of 29 mpg.
